Nike SB x Carpet Company Dunk High Premium Shoes in White, Royal Blue and Dark Sulfur. A tear-away sneaker inspired by the Baltimore-based brand’s own self-claimed admiration for quirky custom graphics and authenticated screen-printed processes, these mixed-material leather, suede and canvas Nike SB Dunks are designed with any active skate style in mind. DIY aesthetics and worn-wear vibes are adhered to via the design’s royal-blue and dark-sulfur overlays, a feature designed to be worn away to reveal colourful custom detailings beneath, whilst the classic coconut-cream cupsole and dusty gum-brown rubber outsole pay homage to courtside tradition with reference to the Abdeldayem brothers’ Arabian heritage. The grippy underfoot and pivot forefoot tread is complemented by black-and-white stamp style printed ‘Carpet’ branding for added detail, with the brand’s iconic embroidered C-Star emblem stitched in silver across each exterior-facing rear panel. Toe-box perforations make for a ventilated day-on-day skate, whilst the interchangeable puffy laces secure the padded off-white ‘Nike SB Dunk High’ branded tongue across the natural arch of the foot. Intricate white-stitch Arabic scripture detailings within the interior lining complement the pre-installed Zoom Air sockliner, whilst the throwback custom insoles pay tribute to the brand’s infamous ‘Angry Man’ and ‘Thank You Man’ graphics from their ‘15 debut. Across the rear, ready-to-reveal panellings provide a playful sign-off hiding both translations of ‘Nike’ into Arabic and left-side ‘Brought to you by the Habibi’s at Carpet Company’ black-stitch trims.
Founded in 2015 and originally run out of their parent’s basement in Maryland, Baltimore, Carpet Company is an unrestrained skatewear brand led by brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem. Famed for their previous hardware collaborations with the likes of Pontus Alv and John Vitale’s The Killing Floor, Carpet continues to make a name for itself thanks to its quirky sense of character and its unformidable sense of patriotism.
