Nike SB Orange Label ‘VX1000’ Dunk Low Pro Shoes in Smoke Grey, Pure Platinum and Off Noir. Inspired by Sony’s infamous DCR-VX1000 ‘Digital Handycam’ that came into circulation during ‘95, these conceptual Nike SB Dunk Low Pro sneakers arrive as yet another addition to the brand’s iconic #supportyourlocalskateshop Orange Label collection. Pairing a courtside classic with revolutionary tech-inspired skate scene influence, these mixed-material suede and nubuck-leather low-profile skate shoes are designed with durability and resilience in mind - traits actively celebrated by the design’s grainy-filmed muse. Remaining loyal to the camcorder’s iconic aesthetic, a split-tone cupsole is complemented by a circular underfoot tread for increased traction, whilst a pre-installed Zoom Air unit across the sockliner keeps the sneaker light on its feet. Perforations accentuate the toe-box for improved circulation, whilst the puffy interchangeable laces secure the padded ‘Nike SB Dunk Low Pro’ branded tongue across the natural arch of the foot. Intricate details such as the debossed white-print ‘SHUTTER SPEED’ , ‘WHT BAL’, ‘REC LEVEL’ and ‘PEAK’ decals across the all-black rear overlays pay homage to the camera’s click-to-create construction, whilst the red and yellow coloured eyelets and aglets offer a symbolic reference to the camera’s pause and stop buttons as well as the colour-coded audio input/outputs. The tumbled-leather side wall ‘Player’ mode Swooshes are intricately debossed with ‘Control’ rocker-style details for a playful reference to the recorder’s rear-facing interface. Printed ‘0:00:01’ detailing across the insoles alludes to the start of the recording process, whilst the black-stitch ‘Nike’ branding across the teal-toned padded ankle collar helps seal these conceptual sneakers off with a touch of certified character and camcorder-inspired charm.
A firm favourite of skate-scene cinematographers such as Mike Stanfield and Ewan Bowman, the Nike SB Orange Label ‘VX1000’ Dunk Low Pro captures courtside heritage and creative skate scene reference through a single lens. Odes to tech-led tradition keep the camcorder’s infamous legacy in check, whilst the low-collared profile continues to inspire long after its skate-specific debut back during the early ‘00s.
