Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ‘What The P-Rod’ Shoes in Sport Red, Black, Varsity Maize and Volt. Inspired by influential team rider Paul Rodrigues’ illustrious career that stretches an admirable 17 years, these mix matched Nike SB Dunk Low Pros arrive as a testament to his creative character and passion for unique styling. With 10 signature sneakers assigned to his name, this ‘What The P-Rod’ release is a statement style with mismatched left and right designs that pay tribute to some of the skaters most revered designs. The left sneaker features textured uppers in cracked leather and resilient mesh, with the black and gold perforated toe box inspired by the skater’s ‘06 P-Rod 1 ‘Stash’ silhouette. Elephant print eyestays and mudguards across the exterior facing quarter of the left sneaker pay homage to the 2005 Air Jordan 1 inspired P-Rod 1 ‘J-Rod’ with the Mexican flag styled rubber outsole an ode to the skater’s heritage. A gradient Swoosh on the exterior left shoe is styled with reference to the P-Rod 2 ‘Playstation’ colourway, with the P-Rod 2’s quilted interior lining a retained feature across both designs for implemented added comfort; the left in red, the right in sky blue. Embroidered gold stitch ‘Nike’ heel branding complements the left sneaker, above the multi-textural wrap around quarters, with the brushed suede inner Swoosh complemented by the bright red colour blocked puff laces atop the embroidered ‘Rodriquez Nike SB’ flag label tongue. For the right side counterpart, uppers are styled with reference to the monochrome Nike SB ‘BO’ P-Rod II High and the military brown P-Rod 7 across its neutral toned inner panel and toe bumper, whilst subtle reference to the boxing styled P-Rod Dunk from 2020 are honoured through the red trimmed white quarters of the exterior facing right side. Across the perforated toe box, a visual composition of the P-Rod 1 ‘Mexican Blanket’ brings added textural depth to the design, with the puffy yellow laces accentuated with the same metallic decal as on the 2020 Dunk Hi. Exposed and miniature block tone Swooshes decorate the inner walls, whilst a yellow trimmed snakeskin styled black Swoosh complements the right side. A khaki toned outsole mirrors the same colouring as the left shoe’s toe box, with rainbow stripe ‘Paul Rodriquez’ branding appearing across the right collar. Both designs are signed off with custom, mix matched insoles that honour both the 5th and 10th signature shoes from the skater, with the Zoom Air unit a performative mainstay that remains true to both parties' passion for skate-centric function.
A team rider since 2004 with an impressive ten signature shoes to his name, California’s Paul Rodriques is dubbed a prodigal son of Nike SB thanks to his influential offering and his undeniable input over the past 17 years. Receiving his first ‘What The’ series release, a collection that takes pride in honouring conceptual creativity and some of the most iconic sneaker designs to date, the Nike SB ‘What The P-Rod’ Dunk Low Pro pushes the boundaries of expressive appeal with its mix match craftsmanship and its undeniable unique aesthetic.
